The event begins with the Euregio Days, featuring today’s Tyrol Day as the first highlight of the EFA25 programme. The Euregio Days have been significantly expanded and extended to four days. Under the annual theme „Recharge Europe“, the European Forum Alpbach (EFA) brings together more than 4.000 participants from politics, science, business, culture and civil society.
“For 80 years, Alpbach has been a place where Europe is reimagined and reshaped. This anniversary is both an inspiration and a responsibility: dialogue and cooperation remain our foundation. With this year’s theme Recharge Europe, we build on that tradition and focus on concrete answers for a strong, united and future-oriented Europe.”, says EFA President Othmar Karas.
Programme Highlights
The four-day Euregio Days (16–19 August) focus on competitiveness and regional development. The opening on 16 August featured the presentation of the Euregio Innovation Award and the Young Researchers Award. Today’s Tyrol Day includes the festive mass, a reception on the village square, speeches by the three governors of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino – Anton Mattle, Arno Kompatscher and Maurizio Fugatti – as well as the Euregio Summit. On 18 and 19 August, workshops, lectures and the Euregio Academy will take a closer look at the core topics of regional competitiveness and development.
Strong political attendance in Alpbach
An extraordinary line-up of political leaders is expected in Alpbach in the coming weeks: alongside Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, around three-quarters of the Austrian federal government will in attendance, including Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler and Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, joined by numerous international head of states and government representatives as well as EU commissioners.
Following the Euregio Days, the programme continues with the Seminar Days (17–22 August), the Lab Days (21–23 August), the Europe in the World Days (23–26 August) and the Austria in Europe Days (26–29 August).
