The European Union faces crucial questions about its future. Euregio Culture Thursday on the evening of 9 October at the headquarters of Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino in the Waaghaus in Bolzano addressed what these questions are and how the EU can tackle them.

After a welcome by Euregio Secretary General Matthias Fink, Markus Warasin, senior European expert on international politics, explained in the presence of South Tyrolean Provincial Councillor for European Affairs Magdalena Amhof why the EU is in a permanent state of crisis, covering challenges in areas such as international trade policy, security and defence, dealing with the refugee problem, and the health, financial and economic crises of recent years.

Warasin summarised the current mood, with its pros and cons, as follows: "There are good reasons to be pro-European: the European peace project; the EU as a guarantor of freedom, security and prosperity; the need to stick together in an interdependent world. There are at least as many reasons to oppose Brussels: Europe polarises! The European Parliament has a crucial role to play at this stage in absorbing these politicisation shocks so that we do not drift into insignificance like the United Nations."

The group ‘Kleiner Chor Bozen’ provided musical accompaniment for the evening.

Since 2022, Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino and the Waag cultural association have been organising Euregio Culture Thursdays as a cultural meeting place with entertainment, workshops and opportunities for adults and children to get to know each other at the Waaghaus, the headquarters of the European Region in Bolzano.
