Amidst the crucial political phase of the EU institutions after the latest European Parliament elections, the Euregio Brussels School 2024 concluded today (June 28) with a formal certificate ceremony for 27 students.

On the initiative of the Representation of the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino, students from the three universities of Innsbruck, Bozen/Bolzano, and Trento participated in the 13th edition of this four-and-a-half-day educational excursion in Brussels. In 15 units, they exchanged ideas with more than 35 politicians, civil servants, and numerous other public and private stakeholders of the European Union. Highlights included visits to the European Commission, the European Parliament, the External Action Service, the Council of the EU, and the European Committee of the Regions. This year's overall topic, "Leaders, Coordinators, Facilitators, and Agenda-setters," aimed to illustrate the complex negotiations at regional, national, and supranational levels that underpin successful European legislation.

Insights into European Decision-Making

The format of the course is based on an interdisciplinary and practical examination of the European Union, its evolution, its constitutional and actual political architecture and its political priorities. The experiences at Europe's headquarters in Brussels are a central element of the Masters Course. Tailored visits to numerous institutions directly or indirectly involved in the EU legislative process and various dialogue formats with high-ranking politicians and their administrations provided a nuanced yet comprehensive view of the essential aspects of the European decision-making process.

Flagship Project for Cross-Border Higher Education

The cooperation between the Representation of the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino in Brussels and the three universities is recognised as a flagship project of the Euregio in the area of cross-border higher education. The Representation's summary: Despite the crucial phase in which the EU institutions currently find themselves following the recent elections, a unique and high-quality program has been successfully developed.
