What is the EU Regions Week?

The European Week of Regions and Cities is a week of events organised by the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions, which takes place every year in October in Brussels. It offers regions, cities, municipalities and their partners a platform to exchange best practice examples, present European projects and hold political debates on current cohesion policy challenges. In 2025, the motto of the week is “Shaping Tomorrow, Together”.

Event 1: “Regions and municipalities in action: tackling uncertainty through prevention, preparedness, and protection in European cross-border territories”

What to expect

The 23rd edition of the EU Regions Week, held under the slogan "Shaping Tomorrow, Together", focuses on strengthening the capacity of regions and cities to address future challenges. Our session contributes to this vision by bringing together local and regional representatives, policymakers, researchers, and civil society actors who are actively working to unlock the potential of their territories.

Our event brings together regional policymakers, experts and practitioners to share real-life examples and discuss how local solutions can help address broader European challenges. Topics include territorial development, social innovation, and resilience in the face of change. The session is designed to be practical, interactive, and focused on replicable ideas.

The session includes contributions from a diverse mix of regional actors and EU-level experts. For a full list of speakers and further programme details, please visit the official session page:

Event 2: Your entry door for successful cross-border cooperation: Fit4Cooperation’s bottom up approach & Interreg Europe’s peer review tool

 What our session is about

Fit4Co CBO and Interreg Europe promote European cooperation by engaging local stakeholders to enhance growth, competitiveness, and resilience.

The Euregio Tyrol–South Tyrol–Trentino and the Euregio Without Borders (Fit4Co CBO) share a bottom-up approach to overcome cross-border obstacles and strengthen administrative collaboration. The peer review by Interreg Europe helps public authorities tackle local policy challenges through interregional policy learning. The session will engage the audience in identifying solutions to enhance cooperation among local actors.

Speakers and Program

The session includes contributions from a diverse mix of regional actors and EU-level experts. Matthias Fink, project lead for the Euregio Tyrol–South Tyrol–Trentino, will speak at the session. The full program and list of speakers are available at the following address:
