The Fit4Co project aims at strengthening the quality and intensity of cross-border cooperation in the border regions between Italy and Austria by accompanying “collaborative tandems” of civil servants in the ideation and planning of well-designed cooperation projects. It is jointly organised by the EGTC European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino and by the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini and co-financed by the Interreg V-A Italy – Austria programme.

A delegation of the project team led by Matthias Fink travelled to Brussels on 8-11 October to present Fit4Co to key stakeholders and to exchange best practices with European Union and regional officials. The trip included meetings with Slaven Klobučar and Igor Caldeira (EGTC Platform of the European Committee of the Regions), Peter Kaiser (President of Carinthia and of the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini), Carlo Fortuna (Director of the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini), Richard Seeber and Vesna Caminades (Common Representation of the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino), Chiara Rossetto (Representation of the Veneto Region), and Martina Rattinger (Representation of the Carinthia Region). In addition, it offered the opportunity to attend high-level debates on EU Cohesion Policy, interregional cooperation, and regional policy.

The Fit4Co project will launch a communication and registration campaign in January 2019 and will enter its operational phase in September 2019, when dozens of “collaborative tandems” are expected to start the cross-border project planning work. The project team will travel again to Brussels in 2019 and 2020 to present the preliminary and final results of its activities.
